Powder Coating Process at Keylink

Keylink does all of our powder-coating in house at our plant, so we control the process and quality from start to finish. Aluminum is taken through a multi-step process, including a prewash, drying, coating, and curing. Thanks to frequent quality checks and attention to detail, Keylink's powder coating is some of the best in the industry, protecting your railing from all kinds of weather conditions.

Keylink uses AAMA 2604 standard coating on all our aluminum, and AAMA 2605 standard coating is available as part of our coastal upgrade package, to protect aluminum within one mile of saltwater.

The Powder Coating Institute has certified Keylink with PCI-4000 status, meaning that Keylink’s processes and facilities meet industry standards to produce quality coating.

What is the difference between AAMA 2604 High Performance Coating and AAMA 2605 Superior Performance Coating?

As the intermediate level of powder coating, AAMA 2604 is ideal for balconies, railings, and fencing, making it Keylink’s standard choice. AAMA 2604 is the best specification level for Keylink customers because it strikes an effective balance between preventing deterioration over time and keeping our products affordable. This level of protection is also resistant to chipping, scratching, and fading, which makes it ideal for outdoor use.

AAMA 2605 is the high-performance coating that's best for use on products that require long-term protection. AAMA 2605 powder coating is offered through Keylink as a special order and paired with epoxy coating as part of our Coastal Upgrade package.
